JEROME COUNTY, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — A suspect is dead after an officer-involved shooting south of Jerome on Friday night.

At 5:42 p.m., deputies responded to a house along West 500 South near the intersection with Sunnyside Drive for a disturbance, according to a press release from the Jerome County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were advised that one of the involved parties had a gun and was standing in the middle of the roadway. The incident escalated before shots were fired, killing a suspect.

The press release did not elaborate any further on the details of the shooting.

The Critical Incident Task Force has taken over the investigation, with the Idaho State Police being the lead investigating agency.

The sheriff’s office and Idaho State Police said that they will not provide any further information as the investigation is ongoing.
