Brandalyn Michelle Maglaughlin,42, had her arraignment hearing at the Jerome County Courthouse on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at 1:00 PM. However, during the arraignment, Maglaughlin failed to appear in court due to having some mental issues while being housed in the Jerome County Jail.

“The court has been informed by jail staff that Ms. Maglaughlin is having serious difficulty, has exhibited some type of mental instability, is refusing to attend the arraignment via close circuit tv, is refusing to cooperate with jail staff,” said Idaho 5th Judicial District Judge John B. As a result of Maglaughlin’s absence, Jerome County prosecutor Sam Beus asked that the court to order a competency evaluation, and that the suspect be held in custody. Her defense attorney expressed concerns of her needing immediate hospitalization due to having potentially a psychotic episode.
