Kohberger’s defense team files motion over court room attire
BOISE, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — The legal team representing Bryan Kohberger has filed a motion in court to allow him to wear street clothes in upcoming public hearings.
Their request is quoted as “owing to the public nature of the case and vast dissemination of images of Mr. Kohberger,” according to the motion filed by defense attorney Anne Taylor.
She referenced a 1976 Supreme Court case recognizing that a person wearing jail clothing could impact the presumption of innocence.
Many stories have stemmed from Kohberger’s transport from Pullman, Washington to Boise, referencing Kohberger’s appearance and hopes to reduce the potential for prejudice, according to the motion.
The first hearing in Ada County will occur on Thursday at 2 p.m.
