Idaho wraps up 100 Deadliest Days with 82 fatalities
TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Preliminary data shows 82 people lost their lives this summer on Idaho’s roadways.
The Idaho Office of Highway Safety released their data from Memorial Day through Labor Day, otherwise known as the 100 Deadliest Days.
While 82 fatalities are 11 less than last year, so far, 156 people have died since January 1st, compared to 165 for all of 2023, the deadliest year for crashes in more than a decade.
Some of the contributing factors to these crashes include, failure to maintain lane, speeding, alcohol impairment and inattention.
Law enforcement responded to 15 fatal crashes this summer in District IV alone, which includes the eight local counties in the Magic and Wood River valleys.
