BOISE, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — With fall camp set to begin on Wednesday for Boise State, head coach Spencer Danielson met with the media Monday to talk about the excitement building around Bronco Football.

It’s also hard to believe that Wednesday marks the one-month mark before kickoff at Georgia Southern.

Coach Danielson provided some injury updates, freshman tight end Kade Anderson is out for the season with a pre-existing knee injury.

Jayden Virgin-Morgan, Ben Dooley, Cam Camper, and Zamondre Merriweather will all be limited to start in some fashion.

Seyi Oladipo broke a bone in his wrist, but he’ll be ready to go come game one.

Of course there are many position battles that are intriguing to fans, one of which being the quarterback competition between Maddox Madsen and Malachi Nelson, a transfer from USC.

“Yes, we’re still working through it. To start fall camp, practice one, Maddox will get the blue reps, or our first team reps. Malachi will get the two reps. But that will be moved around as we go through fall camp,” Danielson explained. “I want to see Malachi then with some of the blues and see Maddox with the orange. There’s going to be that transition. Dirk [Koetter] and I are going to be working hand-in-hand as we go through fall camp to make sure competition is through the roof. Everything’s going to be graded. Everything’s going to be analyzed. It’s going to be very black and white. And whatever quarterback gives us the best opportunity to win games will be the starter.”

Meanwhile, Ashton Jeanty was named to the Maxwell Preseason Watch List.

The 2023 All-American running back is one of five Mountain West players named to the list.

The award is given to the best player in college football.
