Son of former NBA player inks with CSI
TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — DJ Fizer showed immense appreciation for College of Southern Idaho Men’s Basketball coach Jeff Reinert for visiting with him and his family during the recent intense heat wave in Las Vegas.
Reinert’s ability to maximize time with the recruits helped Fizer decide on CSI.
DJ excelled at Coronado High School in Las Vegas, where he earned all-state honors. During his junior campaign as a small forward, he averaged 15.7 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.
He also spent some time at Bella Vista College Preparatory and with the PHH Prep Overtime Elite team, both in Phoenix, Arizona.
He’ll join Jalen Lyn, who played for Hillcrest Prep out of Phoenix.
DJ was listed as a two-star recruit and the fifth top prospect for the Class of 2023 out of Nevada, according to 247 Sports.com.
“DJ is one of those special players that does everything that helps the team,” said CSI Head Coach Jeff Reinert. “He will dive on the floor, make the extra pass, get rebounds, score and get to the free-throw line. The best way to describe him is that he’s an absolute winner!”
“I heard they really hone down on defense,” Fizer explained. “Play hard, get up and down the court, put the ball in the basket, so that’s what I really tried to focus on the past few years.”
DJ’s father Marcus, was a star at Iowa State and the fourth overall pick in the 2000 NBA Draft. He spent four years with Chicago, before one-year stints with the Bucks and Pelicans.
