Ridley’s Family Market evacuated due to potential fire
JEROME, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — A grocery store in Jerome was evacuated Tuesday afternoon due to some potential electric wiring issues. According to the Jerome Fire Department, they were dispatched around 4:07 p.m. to Ridley’s Family Market after receiving reports of a smell that could be connected to a potential fire.
On arrival, the fire department could not find anything, but they could smell the smoke in different areas of the grocery store after they made all shoppers and employees evacuate.
“We got called to Ridley’s Family market for the strong odor of a potential electrical fire, we arrived we did smell the slight smell of electrical potentially burning. It appears the fire hazard is gone, we can’t find anything,” said Jerome Fire Chief, Mike Harrison.
No one was reportedly injured during the evacuation and the fire department has turned over the scene to the electrical company to do further inspection.
