TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — A local man is facing a slew of felony charges, including rape and sexual exploitation of a child.

18-year-old Kody Reed made his initial appearance in Twin Falls County felony magistrate court Wednesday for aggravated assault and rape.

According to court documents, Reed allegedly went to the victim’s house, who was a friend from school, wearing a firearm around his belt.

When they were alone in her bedroom, he allegedly put a gun to the girl’s head, asking her if she trusted him with her life. She told him yes.

Reed allegedly wanted to have intercourse. The victim told him no, but “eventually gave in”.

He was already out on bond when the charges were filed due to another case, as Reed faces 12 felony counts of child sexually exploitative material from earlier this year.

The police affidavit alleges that Synchronoss Technologies found a Verizon account had uploaded five child sexual assault material video files to the cloud service. Synchronoss filed a tip with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, who then notified the Idaho Office of the Attorney General’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit.

Samuel Kuoha of ICAC viewed the files and found girls as young as three or four being involved in sexual acts with adult men.

In January, Kuoha obtained a subpoena for the Verizon account, followed by one for the Synchronoss Cloud.

Kuoha in his investigation, allegedly discovered nude images of a 17-year-old female, plus more adult and child pornography.

He reportedly found documents containing the instruction on how to make RDX, an explosive compound often used in bomb making. Other media files contained anti-law enforcement rhetoric and appeared to promote the death of federal officers.

Reed is due back in court for a preliminary hearing in both cases on June 14 at 8:15 a.m.
