JEROME, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — A local man accused of running over his friend with his car, was bound over to district court.

Braxton Streling, 21, of Heyburn, faces felony vehicular manslaughter in the death of 20-year-old Peyton Walton.

He appeared in Jerome County Court Thursday morning for a preliminary hearing in front of Judge Stacey DePew.

On September 16, 2023, Jerome County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a fatal crash at 2650 East, 1200 South in Hazelton.

According to the police affidavit, Streling was camping with his parents and had some drinks.

Streling told detectives that he left around 4 a.m. with his friend, who would later be identified as Peyton Walton.

Walton allegedly ran into a cornfield, according to Streling. He stated, while waiting for Walton, he started to conduct reverse donuts with his car and that is when he apparently ran over him.

In the affidavit, the detective stated there were tire marks consistent with “peeling out” around the body.

Streling will be arraigned on June 4 at 9 a.m.
