Kimberly residents speak out about constant neighborhood vandalism
TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Residents of Heritage Farms in Kimberly have reported for years that their property has constantly been vandalized and no culprits have been found.
“Everybody thought it was the wind, but we’ve reinforced our fences. I’ve personally reinforced them, and we’ve had help here from the homeowners as well. But, they--kids or adults-- we haven’t been really able to find that out, are physically kicking them in, says Vice President of the Homeowners Association, Bill Hetrick.
According to residents, the vandalism has cost them thousands of dollars to repair, and although no fences have been kicked down within the last couple of weeks, someone has been kicking holes in the fences as of recently. Hetrick also adds that they’ve lost over 40 feet of fence within the past year from the fence being damaged.
“Our area is not secure. We don’t want to put gates up and have some use a card to get into their area, we want to be able to be safe,” says Hetrick.
Hetrick says the Homeowners Association says they are working to get security cameras installed around the complex.
“It’s the alternative, you know, we can’t have a police officer sitting here 24 hours a day trying to catch somebody doing something,” says Hetrick.
KMVT spoke with the Kimberly Police Department and according to the Chief Sjuni Bunderson, police are aware of the vandalism and are looking into it.
