KIMBERLY, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — The Kimberly Yard Dogs Baseball Club is asking the community for help to raise money for new equipment, uniforms and for upcoming tournaments.

“We have the opportunity to go play baseball tournaments throughout Idaho and neighboring states and it gets expensive,” says Coach Ty Carlen.

Ty Carlen is the head coach of the Kimberly Yard Dogs Baseball Club. He says if the club does really well in the upcoming Idaho State Tournament, then they’ll have the chance to play in the Pacific Northwest Regional Tournament, which could be costly. The team came together with the idea of disposing Christmas trees to raise money.

“We wanted to find ways to offset those cost for these kids and their families, and we felt like this would be a good way for them to work and make some money for the team,” says Carlen.

Coach Carlen says you can arrange for your Christmas tree to be picked up for a donation amount for your choice. The trees will be disposed at the the Twin falls Transfer Station’s green waste, and all donations will go towards the team’s needs.

“It’s just raising money to got to our tournaments and get our uniforms,” says 10-year-old team member, Van Hales.

“We probably need some more baseballs, and uniforms, bats and baseball nets and stuff like that,” says 11-year-old team player, Chase Westling.

The donations will also help out with the cost of cage time and field reservations. Starting Saturday night, December 28th, they’ll be picking up trees from houses around the community.

“We have to pick up 5 trees tonight,” says Hales. “We’re going to do another round on January 11th, and then we’re going to dump them off,” says Westling.
