TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Going to school is stressful enough, but it can add a whole new layer for those with young children.

The College of Southern Idaho offers childcare options for students. For many, this can be the difference between getting an education now and waiting for children to enter school.

Many students are changing from full-time moms to full-time students. The comfort of having quality, safe care on campus is a comfort.

“They made it super easy to have a daycare experience because all you hear about are horror stories about daycare these days,” said CSI Student Alexis Stone. “I was really nervous after being home with my daughter for her first year of life to start to go back to school and put her into daycare. They have been the sweetest and the most helpful, and they’re always willing to go the extra mile with my daughter. It’s been a really good experience.”

Being a college student and then paying for care can be another hurdle. Students can now apply for a scholarship from the college to help with the cost.

Not worrying about the cost can also help a student’s academics.

“It has helped me concentrate because being able to have the scholarship has helped me concentrate better in my studies,” said CSI graduate Tatiana Munoz. “My son is in daycare where he can be and it’s me being able to study and go to work, go to school, pay the childcare and come back and do all of that. It’s been good.”

Fall applications are open now and due Aug. 26. The requirements and application are on CSI’s website.
