GOODING, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — The Gooding Senior Center hosted a very special event for one of their longtime residents on Saturday.

Dan Danuser turned 100 years old. He was born in 1925 in Sacramento, California, where he learned to help on his family’s farm.

At the young age of 15, Danuser’s dad passed away, and he stood up to provide for and help his family and still managed to graduate.

In 1966, he moved to Gooding, providing to the community by selling real estate for 12 years.

Danuser has lived for a century, and he tells us his secret for living for that long and reminisces on the early days.

“I don’t know, just working I guess,” Danuser said. “My first job was pulling a combine and I got 75 cents a day in my lunch. I thought I was rich.”

Danuser lived from the buggy and horse days to see a man on the moon.

When asked if he liked riding a horse or driving a car better, he responded without hesitation that he preferred riding a horse.
