GOODING, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) —The Gooding Fairgrounds held a blood drive today to help the blood shortage the community is experiencing.

Several residents of the Gooding community came to the fairgrounds to donate blood.

According to organizers, there’s a blood shortage nationally and that can cause a problem for people who are suffering with illness like cancer or who were in a car crash.

The hospital in Gooding reports it has been about 50% of the blood supply.

“A good feeling to know that you helped save a life? You know in three because each pint saves 3 lives ‘cause you can they can do things with it. It can only come from other humans. We do not have the ability to recreate, you know, human blood, except from other humans,” Diana Rowd, Blood Drive Coordinator, said.

If you’re interested in donating blood, you can call the red cross at 1-800-733-2767 or visit their website.
