TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) —Habitat for Humanity teamed up with the Canyon Springs Golf Club to help those affected by Hurricane Helene.

The idea came from Canyon Springs Golf Club Manager, Brandon Otte, when he saw all the damage Hurricane Helene left in Asheville, North Carolina.

Otte said he had the idea to host a day of golf open to everyone in the valley and donate the money they raised to help the people hit by the hurricane.

Jennifer Mccollum, who was part of this fundraiser says the money they raised would help the community in Asheville, “They’ve done a really good job. They lost all of their trucks. They had three different big giant trucks that all got flooded out like their total losses. So those are on their wish list. And so I knew that they would know how to spend the money. I knew they could really use it, especially now it’s a few months afterwards and those needs just don’t go away.”

They raised $4,000. Then, the idea came to give $3,000 to the victims of the hurricane and the thousand to Habitat for Humanity of them Magic Valley.

Habit for Humanity has helped over 60 families in the community and this money will help benefit more.

Otte wants to give a challenge to the community to see how much money can be raised, “Let’s do we have three or four more days to push to get the habitat numbers up and there’s others helping another stepping up and and maybe even matching some donations so i want to encourage everybody to do with that like they always do let’s come together let’s if it’s five dollars ten dollars doesn’t have to be anything major and let’s hop on the website and let’s do some damage.”
