JEROME, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Students in Jerome got a late start Monday morning after the school district informed families that school would not start until 10 a.m.

The delayed start was due to a power outage that affected most of the city, according to Jerome School Superintendent Johnson.

He said all district schools and bus systems were without power, and emergency generators were brought in to support them.

Johnson added that Idaho Power quickly resolved the issue and restored power around 8:30 a.m.

He said school families are being notified about the situation and that classes have resumed typically.
