JEROME, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Fire crews responded to a fire inside a garbage truck on Tuesday morning in Jerome.

Crews responded to a garbage truck that caught fire around 9 a.m., according to Jerome City Fire officials.

Jerome City Fire Chief Mike Harrison said crews worked quickly to extinguish flames. He added that the fire likely started because someone threw away something they shouldn’t have.

A reminder to people, don’t throw away aerosol cans, chemicals, paints," Harrison said. “Anything like that needs to be disposed of separately.”

Harrison said this is the second trash truck fire in Jerome this week.
