Idaho State Police is warning public of a rising scam

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — The Idaho State Police (ISP) is warning the public of a rising scam. Callers claim to be an ISP Captain or representative and tell victims they have outstanding warrants. They tell the victims they have to pay their bond using Chime, Venmo or another online payment platform. The ISP does not call individuals for payment or request personal information.
Scammers are able to manipulate caller IDs to make it look like the call is coming from ISP.
ISP will never ask for a payment over the phone as they do not accept electronic payments, hang up immediately. Never share personal or financial information such as Social Security numbers, bank details or other private information. Make sure to verify the call, if there is doubt, hang up and call ISP directly as well as report the scam.
