WENDELL, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Wendell High School is proposing a baseball and softball facility to help students improve their sports. The benefits of students using the facility would include major improvements in their sports. Increased arm strength and bat speed as well as overall health during the off-season would also be part of those benefits. It will also help to have year-round training in a controlled environment.

The facility size requested is a 100’ x 60’ steel structure with a concrete floor, insulation and storage rooms. There will be electricity to the building but no plumbing. The school is also requesting expenses for unforeseen situations as well as other materials like paint, televisions and cameras.

Sporting equipment will include a pitching machine, machine feeder, tees, screens, batting machines and pitching mounds.

Josh Prince, Wendell’s head baseball coach talks about how the community can help, “The biggest thing is just spreading word. We have talked to a lot of people in our community already, and we’ve had a lot come together. We have a lot of people supporting it. It’s going to take time.”

The building will be located on the west side of the outside concession.

Wendell’s goal is $400,000, and all donations are a school tax deduction.
