Rep. Mike Simpson’s office holds resource fair for local veterans
TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — The Office of Congressman Mike Simpson is hosting a veteran’s resource fair in Twin Falls on Friday.
The event is held at the Twin Falls County West facility from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Conference Rooms A and B.
Over 40 different agencies and providers, such as the Boise VA Medical Center, the American Red Cross, and American Legion Auxiliary Unit 47 from Filer, are attending the event.
Veterans also have an opportunity to submit their service history to the Veterans History Project, a project enacted by the U.S. Congress in 2000 to collect and preserve the personal accounts of military veterans in the Library of Congress.
Linda Culver, Congressman Mike Simpson’s regional director, said the office cares about providing resources for veterans in Idaho and nationwide.
“Believe it or not, some veterans don’t know how to access resources,” Culver said. “They find themselves in a position where maybe they need some help at home, or they need some additional care from the VA. They just honestly don’t know how to access that care. Bringing it all together in one day kind of helps them decide what they need.”
The office held its first resource fair in Twin Falls in 2024, and over 100 veterans participated in the event.
Culver said she expects to break that attendance record for this year’s event.
Resources for veterans can be found by visiting the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs or the Idaho Division of Veterans Services website. Culver also said to call the Rep. Simpson’s office for any troubles regarding federal agencies.
