WENDELL, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — A 55-year-old man is injured after his car crashed into a ditch along Interstate 84 on Monday.
Emergency crews responded to the freeway near milepost 149 at 2:33 p.m. after a black SUV somehow ended up a ditch along the right shoulder of the westbound lanes, according to the Gooding County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies temporarily closed all westbound lanes from milepost 151 to 149 for around 20 minutes to allow an Air St. Luke’s helicopter to take the injured driver to a hospital.
An animal control officer took in the driver’s dogs until they can be returned home, according to the City of Wendell.
Crews plan to tow the vehicle out of the ditch as soon as they can safely get a tow truck near the car, deputies on scene said.
The crash is currently under investigation.
