GOODING, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — A crash south of Gooding on Thursday night temporarily blocked northbound and southbound traffic along Idaho Route 46.

Idaho State Police said their preliminary report indicated that at 7:02 p.m., a 50-year-old man in a pickup truck failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of the highway and East 2300 South.

The pickup then crashed into a semitruck with two tanker trailers traveling along the highway, according to troopers. Emergency responders airlifted the pickup driver to a hospital in serious condition.

The crash blocked all highway lanes for around four and a half hours before the road reopened to regular traffic at 11:27 p.m., according to troopers.

ISP said the investigation is ongoing, and the exact cause and specifics are not determined.
