BELLEVUE, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Firefighters had to temporarily close roads in Bellevue on Saturday due to a structure fire on South Main Street.

The fire resulted in the total loss of the home, and the residents had to be temporarily housed, according to the Bellevue Fire Department. Fire officials notified the Red Cross to assist with the residents' needs.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help support the victims of the fire.

The Idaho State Fire Marshal’s Office determined that the fire started due to an overloaded power strip. A radiant heater and several other devices were plugged into the power strip.

Callers reported the fire at 3:45 p.m. on Saturday, according to fire officials. Emergency responders temporarily closed South Main Street from Pine Street to Walnut Street.

No injuries were reported, and nearby properties were not threatened, according to the Bellevue Marshal’s Office.

The fire department reminded residents to plug space heaters into 120V GFCI-protected outlets, as overloading power strips and improper use of heating devices can pose fire risks.

The Bellevue Fire Department thanked Wood River Fire, Hailey Fire, the Bellevue Marshal’s Office, Blaine County Sheriff’s Office, the Bellevue Mayor and City Council Members and Bellevue Public Works for their assistance in the fire.
