JEROME, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Idaho Fish and Game are starting their hunter education classes in the Magic Valley next month.

These classes are required to purchase a hunting license in the state of Idaho. Multiple classes are offered across the Magic Valley, and some are even offered online for a more self-paced approach.

Terry Thompson, Regional Communications Manager with Fish and Game, discusses what you can expect to learn in these classes.

“We have all sorts of different topics that they cover,” Thompson said. “Everything from shooting positions to ballistics, to identification. One of our conservation officers comes and talks to the students about laws and regulations that pertain to hunting.”

The cost of the class depends on which one you choose. The in-person class costs $9.75, while the online class costs $32.50. However, one thing they still need for the classes is instructors.

“If people have a desire to become a hunter education instructor, give us a call here at the office, talk to our hunter education coordinator TanaRae Alberti,” Thompson said.
