TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — The Oakley Lady Hornets have done it again.

Oakley cruised by Valley on Tuesday night, beating the Vikings 59-31 to win its third straight Snake River Championship and booked its ticket to state.

It was the third matchup between the two teams after splitting the regular season 1-1. Valley-handed Oakley its only loss of the season.

Oakley came out of the gates on fire with a 9-2 run.

Some defensive efforts from Valley got the Vikings going on offense and trail 12-5 after a quarter.

The Hornets exploded in the second quarter with relentless defense and quick transition points to lead 31-13 at the break.

The second half was the same story; Oakley never allowed Valley back into the game and would win 59-31.

“It was exciting to get a third one (championship),” junior Taylin Beck told KMVT. “It was our goal from the beginning to make it three-straight, so it was cool to get it again.

The Hornets played its brand of basketball and never looked back.

“We played Oakley basketball by doing the small things like rebounding, limiting our turnovers, and our defense,” Chloe Berlin said. “Our main focus for this game was defense. We knew our offense would come on fast breaks and getting open looks,” Livee Berlinguet added.

Addy Maseda led the Hornets in scoring with 13 points, while Beck scored 11. Berlinguet added nine in the win.

Oakley will likely enter the state tournament as the No. 1 overall seed.

Oakley is off to the state tournament, while Valley will play Raft River on Thursday at 7:00 at Murtaugh. The winner joins Valley at the state tournament.
