ANN ARBOR, Michigan (KMVT/KSVT) — As the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles battled it out in the Superbowl, another football journey is unfolding.

A local star’s path from small-town Idaho to the brink of the pros serves as an inspiration to young athletes.

Gooding high school alumnus Colston Loveland is now preparing for the NFL draft after a standout career at the University of Michigan.

His football journey began in Gooding, Idaho, with the Senators. At the University of Michigan, he became a key player and helped lead the Wolverines to a National Championship.

Now, with the NFL Draft approaching, Loveland is focused on taking his talents to the professional level. It didn’t matter where he grew up, all that mattered was the type of person he is.

“Especially with all the pressure and all the eyes and all the things that could go wrong, they just didn’t because of who he was, not because of where he was or what he was doing,” Burley head coach Cameron Andersen said. “I’m thankful he can be the example to kids in Idaho and I hope as many kids as possible become the kind of man he is.”

Andersen coached Loveland at Gooding High School before coaching at Burley.

For young athletes in Idaho, Loveland’s journey is a testament to where dedication and hard work can lead.

“I was one of those kids. I’ve been in their shoes, and I’m here for it,” Loveland told KMVT in December. “It’s crazy you can feel the love from just Idaho as a state. I owe it all back to Gooding and Idaho and all those kids, and I hope they all get an opportunity to chase their goals.”

As the NFL Draft approaches, Loveland continues to train diligently, aiming to make a lasting impression and secure his place in professional football.
