TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) —UPDATE: The New Orleans Saints have officially hired Kellen Moore as next head coach.

The Saints announced the hiring two days after Moore and the Philadelphia Eagles beat the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl.

“At the start of the interview process, it was important to find a head coach who was the right fit for the New Orleans Saints organization,” team owner Gayle Benson said in a statement. “Through the search process, it became clear that Kellen is the right person to help us re-establish a winning program and culture that our fans are accustomed to and have come to expect. I would also like to thank Darren Rizzi for his service as interim coach and leading our team this past season. I am truly grateful to him.”

The Eagles averaged 27.2 points in the regular season (seventh in the NFL) and 36.3 points in the postseason (first in the NFL).

Moore took two interviews with the Saints earlier in the coach hiring cycle, but NFL rules forbid the two parties from formalizing an agreement until the day following the Super Bowl.

“I am excited to join the New Orleans Saints and deeply appreciate the faith that Mrs. Benson and the entire Saints organization have placed in me,” Moore said. “I look forward to embracing the challenges ahead and am eager to get started. I would also like to thank the Philadelphia Eagles for an incredible 2024 season. I’m excited to begin this new chapter,” Moore said in a statement.

The Saints are the final NFL team with a head coaching opening after firing Dennis Allen mid-season and not extending a full-time offer to interim Darren Rizzi.

Moore began his coaching career in 2018 as the quarterbacks coach for the Dallas Cowboys before being promoted to offensive coordinator the following season, a position he held until joining the Chargers in the same capacity in 2023.

Prior to the 2024 season, Moore was hired by the Eagles and has helped lead them back to the Super Bowl with the help of 2,000 yard rusher Saquon Barkley and a great offensive line
