FILER, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — From a Wildcat to a Yote.

Filer’s Cody Sanchez made it official on National Signing Day, signing to play football at the College of Idaho.

“Not everyone gets to continue playing in college,” Sanchez told KMVT. “My hard work has gotten me to this point.”

Sanchez was a 4A Sawtooth Central Idaho Second-Team defensive back and Honorable Mention wide receiver in 2024.

Football for Sanchez has always been a strong passion.

He began trying different sports, such as soccer when he was younger in the Dominican Republic. His dad was deployed there.

It wasn’t until he came to the States and Texas that he found a love for the game.

“I tried football, and then my coaches were always raving and saying how crazy it is, and I was like, okay, this is kind of feeling good, and I get to hit people and run around and have fun,” Sanchez told KMVT. “I then got to Idaho, and it just kept going. I haven’t lost that feeling I get every time I take the field.”
