BURLEY, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Brooks Andrew Hondo, a 52-year-old resident of Burley, passed away Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Parke View Rehabilitation and Care Center in Burley.
Brooks was born at Cassia Memorial Hospital in Burley, Idaho, February 9, 1972, to Daniel Allen and Kristine King Hondo. He liked to push life to the limits. On a sunny day of July 1978 that characteristic caused him to be in an accident that resulted in a traumatic brain injury and paralysis of his left side. With some limitations, he attended Declo Elementary School, then moved to Calvary Baptist Christian School. Brooks attended a life-skills program at Boise High School for two years before returning to Burley High School to graduate in 1991. In 1994 he graduated from the College of Southern Idaho with an associate degree.
He was active in the Burley United Methodist Church and other social groups in the area. Brooks also worked as an executive assistant for River Bridge Realty for approximately ten years.
He is survived by his brother, Dewayne (Tammy) Hondo; nieces, Aralyn and Sicily; and many loving uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
Brooks was preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Kris Hondo.
The family expresses their sincere appreciation to the many doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals that cared for Brooks.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 3, 2025, at Burley United Methodist Church, located at 450 E. 27th St., in Burley, with the Rev. Kenneth Haftorson officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery in Burley.
Family and friends will be received from 10 until 10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home of Burley.
