GOODING, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Brian Marley Behunin, 49, of Gooding, on 29 November 2024. Brian was a man with a big heart and a tremendous sense of humor.

Born on 15 December 1974, Brian grew up with a deep love for the cowboy way of life. He was a proud member of the Little Mustangs riding club for 15 years, where he grew his lifelong passion of horses. This love of the land and hard work carried over into his 17-year career with the Wood River Canal Company, where he took great pride in his role, ultimately serving as the maintenance supervisor. He also spent several years working with his father and brothers up in Pine - Featherville building cabins and putting on blue tin roofs. He also travelled to Alaska, Washington, California working with his brother – Rodney and best friend – Lance Strout remodeling Walmart Stores.

Brian was also a man of many interests. He was an active member of a motorcycle club that supported charitable events, riding alongside friends to make a positive impact in the community. As a “Son of the Legion” commander with Post 19 of the American Legion, he devoted countless hours to organizing and working food drives and collecting toys for children in need during the holiday season.

Brian married Christina, and together they welcomed their son – Matthew, who tragically passed away at birth. Though their marriage ended in divorce, Brian remained a man deeply committed to his family, friends and community.

Brian is survived by his mother – Donna Behunin; brother – Terry (Vanessa) Behunin; sister – Kristine (Tim) Young; brother – Rodney Behunin; and foster sister – Ennice (Ron) Braun; along with many nieces and nephews who will forever cherish his memory.

Brian is preceded in death by his father – Gene Behunin; sister – Kelli Behunin; son – Matthew; and grandparents from both Behunin and Christensen sides.

A celebration of Brian’s life will be held on 14 December 2024 at the Gooding Country Club at 2:00 pm. Friends and family are invited to join in honoring a man who worked hard, gave generously, and lived his life to the fullest.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like you to come share your memories with them. You may bring a finger food or simple dessert if you wish.

Brian, you rode through life with grit, grace and humor. You leave behind love and inspiration that will live on. Brian lived his life the way he wanted.

Cremation arrangements are under the care and direction of Demaray Funeral Service – Gooding Chapel.

Brian’s “boots and hat” will be laid to rest along with his father and sister at the Elmwood Cemetery in Gooding.
