BURLEY, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) —Debra Ann Barlow, a 72-year-old resident of Burley, left this world to be with her family in Heaven on Sunday, November 17, 2024.

Debra was born on August 9, 1952, in Anchorage, Alaska. She was the oldest daughter of six children who were lucky enough to be born to William Elihu and Patricia Ann Felton Pettingill. She grew up and lived in Anchorage until the age of seven when they moved to Blackfoot for a short time. The family then moved to Burley, followed by a short stint in Declo. Debra then finished her youth in Burley.

She attended Burley High School and graduated with the class of 1970. During her school years she was an avid participant in music. After high school Debbie attended Ricks College where she received an associate degree in music performance.

On February 1, 1973, Debra was sealed for time and all eternity to the love of her life, Brian Golden Barlow, in the Ogden Utah Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Together, they moved to Hill Air Force Base, in Utah, where they had two amazing sons, Brian Travis and Matthew Golden. They lived in Utah until 1976 when they then moved back to Burley.

Debra worked at Overland Elementary School and Mountain View Elementary School teaching music. She also taught piano and voice lessons from her home. Debra and Brian worked and eventually purchased the NAPA Auto Parts store in Burley. In 2015, they sold the store and retired shortly thereafter to spend more time with their children and grandchildren.

Debra’s greatest passion in life was her music. She was an incredibly talented pianist and vocalist. She spent many years leading ward choirs, directing special community performances, and singing at events. Debra wrote and published two songs, “I Will Serve with All My Heart,” and “Come unto Me.”

Once their grandchildren came, Brian and Debra spent their lives dedicated to being with them. Debra loved nothing more than to spend every moment she could playing, chasing, laughing, reading, and loving her grandchildren. She made it to every event she possibly could so she could support them and let them know she loved them.

Debra was greatly loved and admired by her church community. She served various positions over the years. She touched so many lives with her strong testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Recently she served as a temple worker at the Twin Falls Idaho Temple every Tuesday, where she made many dear friends.

We are incredibly saddened at the loss of our dear wife, mom, sister, friend, and grandma. She will be forever missed by those who loved her. Her laughter and smile will live on through her kids and her grandchildren.

Debra is survived by her loving husband, Brian; her two sons, Travis (Stephanie) Barlow and Matthew (Shannon) Barlow; her nine grandchildren, Kylee (Cameron) Carbine, Braeden Barlow, Haven Barlow, Madison Barlow, Morgan Barlow, Colson Barlow, Kyrian Barlow, Noah Barlow, and Emberly Barlow; her great-grandchild, Stevie Carbine; her siblings, Tami Isaacson, Trudi (Ron) Dymock, and Paula John; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Patricia Pettingill; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Golden and Velma Barlow; siblings, Patrice Griffin and William Pettingill; brothers-in-law, Dave Patterson, Arlin Barlow and Doug Barlow; and granddaughters, Ashlynn Barlow and Everlee Barlow

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 2, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - Burley Idaho West Stake Center, located at 2420 Parke Avenue, in Burley, with Bishop Brian R. Muir officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery in Burley.

Family and friends will be received from 5 until 7 p.m. Sunday, December 1, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th Street, in Burley, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Monday, preceding the funeral, at the church.
