BURLEY, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) —Alora Kaye Barrett Carson, a 62-year-old resident of Burley, passed away Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello.

Kaye was born September 30, 1962, in Burley, Idaho, the daughter of Clarence Ernest and Velda Hutchison Barrett. She received her education in Malta and graduated from Raft River High School.

Kaye was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served a mission from 1984-1986 in South Carolina and loved the people there. She served diligently in the auxiliaries of the Church including president of the Relief Society, and in Young Women and Primary presidencies. She had a great love for the nine year olds she taught in Primary.

She worked hard throughout her life. Her time spent at the Sublett truckstop, Bake Central in Malta, and the laundromat, gave her the opportunity to meet many walks of life and establish great and lasting friendships. Civically, she was a volunteer at the hospital.

Family was of the utmost importance in her life. She was the main caregiver for her parents until their deaths. Her mother was paralyzed and also suffered from Alzheimer’s dementia. Her father endured to the end through the terrible effects of Parkinson’s disease. Kaye’s love and devotion to her parents was the true personification of the Savior.

Kaye was blessed to meet Parke Carson, who was a recent widower. They fell in love and were married for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple on June 7, 2008. Their years together have proven remarkable through the many illnesses that Kaye suffered with. Parke stayed by her side and loved her immensely!

She was blessed with many God-given talents that she strove to develop throughout her life. She had a beautiful singing voice and was an accomplished pianist. Her writing skills earned her many recognitions in poetry. Kaye will be missed greatly by her husband, family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Parke Carson of Burley; two step-sons, Alexander Carson and Ted Carson; two grandsons, Colton and Mason; her siblings, David (Betty) Barrett and Merla (Eddy) DeNaughel, both of Burley, and Kevin (Jenny) Barrett of Sterling, Alaska; a brother-in-law, James Cole of Ogden, Utah; and her nieces and nephews who dearly loved her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ernest Barrett; and one sister, Dorothy Cole.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 23, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, located at 1350 E. 16th Street, in Burley, with Bishop John Preston officiating.

A live webcast of the funeral service will be available and maintained at rasmussenwilson.com.
