City of Declo battling minor flooding
DECLO, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) —***Updated 2/26/25 6pm*** Declo is still seeing the effects of minor flooding, due to the warming temperatures and recent rainfall.

The mayor of Declo, Lance Osterhout, said it was the worst flood since 2017, but the water is receding.
Some properties yesterday were hit with the flood water and even a small bridge was underwater. They were forewarned by Albion who saw the flood waters a day earlier, and neighboring Declo, was next in line. Osterhout credited the community for helping the city get through the event.
“It just took a community effort to get this done, and I’m grateful that I’m able to serve as a mayor and a community that is so willing to help their neighbors and help everybody out.” Osterhout said. " And that’s what it takes in these times. It wasn’t a major flood, but it could have been a lot worse, but I felt like we were ahead of it enough to really help”
With the possibility of additional minor flooding, Osterhout adds that there are 20 pallets of sandbags still available to the community, if they need them
