Idaho MAILS act reintroduced
BOISE, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — A group of Idaho lawmakers are re-introducing legislation to improve access at local post offices. The “Mandating Advisable and Informed Locations and Solutions Act,” or “MAILS” Act, helps to address concerns when communities report sudden and surprising post office closures.
The “MAILS” Act requires community input before relocating post offices and recommendations from municipalities to request additional ones.
Representatives Fulcher and Simpson, as well as senators Crapo and Risch introduced legislation in both the House of Representatives and the Senate.
According to officials, this is a re-introduction of the bill they tried to pass in the 118th Congress, but failed to do so.
