Pres. Biden calls for peaceful, orderly transition
Also praised Vice President Kamala Harris
WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - From the Rose Garden, President Joe Biden addressed the nation just 2 days after a decisive victory by Donald Trump. The president acknowledged defeat, praised his Vice President and took credit for his administration’s accomplishments.
Four years after winning the keys to the White House, President Biden says he’s prepared to pass those keys onto Donald Trump. “Yesterday, I spoke with president-elect Trump, congratulated him on his victory, and I assured him I would direct my entire administration to work with his team to ensure a peaceful and orderly transition. That’s what the American people deserve.”
Speaking to his Cabinet and staff in the Rose Garden, the President conceded that losing is never easy. He added that’s what presidential elections are all about. “Campaigns are a contest of competing visions. A country chooses one or the other. We accept the choice the country made. I’ve said many times, you can’t love your country. Only when you win. You can’t love your neighbor only when you agree.”
The President also took credit for his successes, including the passage of the bipartisan infrastructure law, which he said will be improving every part of America for the next decade. ″Together, we’ve changed America for the better. Now we have 74 days to finish the term. Our term. Let’s make every day count. That’s the responsibility we have to the American people.”
President Biden has invited President-elect Donald Trump to the White House to discuss the transition. That meeting, which woud resume a tradition, will likely take place in the next few weeks.
