TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — The Shoshone Falls Grade has been closed since the start of winter, but construction crews are making progress on the upgrades.

The project is slated for a spring of 2025 completion and while that is still on schedule according to Twin Falls City Public Information Officer Josh Palmer.

The grade will need to remain closed to both vehicle and foot traffic until the project is complete.

The reason for the foot traffic aspect is because no emergency responders can get down there currently should a person need it.

Palmer also spoke about the improvements the public can expect once the grade is re-opened.

“The nice part about it as well, the road to Dierkes Lake will be much better quality and also that hairpin turn, we call it “the knob”, on Shoshone Falls Grade, that’s gone. They have widened that substantially so that will be more open and accessible to more vehicles,” Palmer said.

Palmer adds these changes will make it easier for larger vehicles like RVs and camper vans to come down the grade and enjoy Shoshone Falls.
