ATLANTA (Telemundo Atlanta/Gray News) - A man in Georgia was arrested after allegedly leading police on a high-speed chase with a 2-year-old boy in the car.
The driver was identified by police as 21-year-old Alessio Vaduva, a resident of Lawrenceville. He is charged with fleeing and eluding officials, reckless driving, driving at high speeds and operating a vehicle in an unsafe manner, along with other charges.
According to the report, police were operating a security checkpoint when officers saw a black BMW traveling on Interstate 85 at high speeds.
When an officer tried to stop the car, the driver fled. Officials said they were able to use a police helicopter to locate the vehicle moments after it exited the interstate with its lights off.
The BMW was tracked to a neighborhood in Duluth, where Vaduva allegedly fled the car along with the child. He was immediately found and arrested.
The child, who was unharmed, was delivered to a family member, police said.
