ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC/Gray News) – An incident involving a hot air balloon caused quite the scene along U.S. Highway 63 in Rochester, Minnesota, early Wednesday evening.

According to the Rochester Police Department, the balloon was trying to land in a field when a gust of wind pushed it into a power line.

It happened around 6:50 p.m. along U.S. Highway 63 between 40th Street SE and 48th Street SE in southeast Rochester.

Police reported the basket became disconnected from the balloon and fell 20 to 30 feet to the ground.

Three people were inside at the time. Police said two of them suffered “very minor injuries.”

A small brush fire broke out next to the basket, but the Rochester Fire Department quickly extinguished it.
