ATLANTA (WANF/Gray News) - Authorities say a boy who was abducted from Atlanta seven years ago has been found in Colorado.

Abdul Aziz Khan was allegedly taken by his non-custodial mother, Rabia Khalid, in 2017 when he was 7 years old.

Several law enforcement agencies, including the U.S. Marshals Service, had been trying to find them ever since.

On Feb. 23, deputies in Douglas County, Colorado, went to a home listed for sale on Kelliwood Way in Highlands Ranch after the homeowner said they spotted trespassers on their security cameras.

Deputies found two children, including the now 14-year-old Khan, in a car in the driveway and ran into a man and a woman coming out of the house.

The two said they were associated with a realtor, but investigators later identified them as 40-year-old Khalid and 42-year-old Elliot Bourgeois.

Khalid and Bourgeois were booked on several charges, including second-degree kidnapping, forgery, identity theft, providing false information to authorities and trespassing.

Their preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 27.

“We’re overwhelmed with joy that Aziz has finally been found. We want to thank everyone for their support over the last seven years,” Khan’s family said in a statement. “We specifically want to recognize the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office for their exceptional work in solving this case.”

Authorities said they believe Khalid and Bourgeois were traveling all over the country with the children before being caught.

Khan and the second child, who has not been identified, have been taken into protective custody. Both children appeared to be healthy, and their placements will be decided by the court system, deputies said.
