TORONTO (Gray News) - Delta Air Lines says it is offering $30,000 to passengers who were aboard a flight that crashed and flipped upside down while landing in Toronto on Monday.

A spokesperson for the company said the Delta Care Team is telling passengers that the gesture has no strings attached and does not affect rights.

The Delta Air Lines jet flipped on its roof while landing Monday at Toronto’s Pearson Airport as it was traveling from Minneapolis.

All 80 people on board survived and those hurt had relatively minor injuries, according to the airport’s chief executive.

Multiple outlets reported that snow was being blown by gusty winds to 40 mph when the flight was attempting to land at around 2:15 p.m.

Communication between the tower and pilot was reportedly normal on approach and it wasn’t immediately clear what went wrong when the plane touched down.

“We are very grateful there was no loss of life and relatively minor injuries,” Deborah Flint, CEO of Greater Toronto Airports Authority, was quoted as telling reporters Monday.

Delta CEO Ed Bastian shared in a statement that “the hearts of the entire global Delta family are with those affected.”

Authorities said 18 passengers in all were taken to the hospital.

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement that the Transportation Safety Board of Canada would head up the investigation.
