Woman celebrating 106th birthday says the secret to a long life is simple

HARTFORD, Ala. (WTVY/Gray News) - Time has been very kind for an Alabama woman who celebrated her 106th birthday.
Blanche Thomas of Hartford was born in 1919, ten years before the Great Depression.
More than a century later, Thomas celebrated her milestone birthday surrounded by friends and family.
While some people say the secret to a long life is to eat healthy food or to exercise, Thomas said her advice is much simpler.
“Well, I just went along with a poor girl’s happy life and made it fine,” Thomas said.
Her family describes her as a devout, elegant and independent young woman.
