BURLEY, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — They say that dogs are a man’s best friend, which is why having someone to watch over them when you aren’t there is so vital.

This week’s Behind the Business brings us to the Doggy Dojo.

At the Doggy Dojo in Burley, they specialize in taking care of your furry friends while you are away.

“We ended up getting dogs when we were younger and were always really passionate about it and wanted to create a place when we went out of town we felt like our dogs were safe and taken care of, so we decided to open something up,” said Alex Mortensen, the owner of Doggy Dojo.

Located at 507 South HWY 27 in Burley, the Doggy Dojo opened in October of this past year.

They offer boarding, grooming, daycare and training for dogs of all sizes.

They also have a boutique as well for your animal’s needs.

“The boarding is definitely the busiest, we just finished spring break and we were completely booked out for the whole spring break, which was awesome, we were excited about that, and then grooming, whenever it isn’t a holiday season the grooming has been huge,” said Mortensen.

He says doggy daycare is separated into big and small dogs and one of the communities’ favorite additions to the doggy daycare is the fact that they have cameras and the owners can check on their dogs during the day.

“We really wanted to emphasize big windows where you can see what is going on, we send daily report cards with a picture of your dog and how they are doing, you can hop online on our cameras and see throughout the day how your dog is doing in daycare,” said Mortensen.

Doggy Dojo is open Monday through Sunday from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. you can call or go online to make a reservation.

“Nowadays for some people their dog is like their kid, so we wanted to make sure they were safe and under good care,” said Mortensen
