Dietrich Blue Devils roll by Richfield, advance to district championship against Carey

DIETRICH, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Dietrich left no doubts Wednesday night.

The No. 1 Dietrich Blue Devils boys basketball team is heading to the 1A Sawtooth Championship after cruising by Richfield 65-38.

Richfield falls to the consolation bracket and will host Castleford on Feb. 24.

Dietrich was in firm control throughout the game and will now take on No. 2 Carey in the District Championship on Wednesday, Feb. 26, at the College of Southern Idaho.

It’s a rematch from the 1A State Championship football game, where Carey came out on top.

Tip-off set for 7:30.

No. 3 Burley 76, No. 6 Wood River 20

• Burley will play Minico on the road on Saturday at 1:00.
• Jake Redder scored 14, Nash Gillette had 13, and Joseph Kloepfer had 11 points, respectively, in the win.
• Wood River’s season comes to an end.

No. 4 Jerome 54, No. 5 Mountain Home 41

• Jerome advances and will play No. 1 Twin Falls on Feb. 22
• Mountain Home is eliminated.

4A Sawtooth Central Idaho Tournament

No. 2 Filer 68, No. 1 Kimberly 53

• Filer advances to the championship game and will host it on Feb. 26.
• Kason Coon led Filer with 18, Preston Volle had 17, and Owen Grant scored 16 points in the win.
• Ryker Larson paced the Bulldogs with 15 points, while Quentin Pettingill scored 11.
• Kimberly will play the winner of Gooding Buhl.

2A Snake River Tournament

No. 1 Valley 79, No. 5 Glenns Ferry 54

• Josh Hardy and Nathan Christensen had monster games with 24 and 12 points, respectively. Aiden Malone was in double figures with 11 points, while Pedro Robles had nine. Valley advances to the championship game on Tuesday, Feb. 25, at the College of Southern Idaho.
• Alan Mesillas led the Pilots with 23 points, and Jackson Smith scored 12. Glenns Ferry will play the winner of Murtaugh/Shoshone in the consolation.

No. 3 Hagerman 46, No. 2 Oakley 38

• Hagerman advances to the championship game and will play No. 1 Valley on Tuesday, Feb. 25, at the College of Southern Idaho.
• Ky Kendall scored 18 points and collected eight rebounds in the win. Martin Gonzalez scored 14 points, and Wyatt Mavencamp added eight.
• Oakley falls to the consolation bracket and will play No. 4 Raft River at Jerome on Feb. 24.

No. 6 Murtaugh 55, No. 7 Shoshone 38

• Murtaugh will play Glenns Ferry on Feb. 24 at Jerome
• Shoshone is eliminated.
