GOODING, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Sliman and Butler Irrigation in both Gooding and Buhl, provides the Magic Valley’s farmers with all of their watering needs. The company has been around since the 1980s and is owned by Michael Sliman and David Butler, both natives of Gooding.

However the corporation had a rather humble beginning that included some trials and plenty of learning experiences.

“They eventually went out of business and so we started our own dealership as a different corporation. The 80s came, hard times and high interest and it wasn’t working out for that company, so that company went out of the irrigation business and Dave was working for us at the time and Dave and I started on a shoestring back in 1982 and went from there,” said Sliman, General Manager and part owner of the business said.

Today, Sliman and Butler have grown enough to add a second location in Buhl, something that the two never would have envisioned when they started back in 1982, and the duo says that without a certain group of people their business would not be possible.

“Well the farmers around here have always been really behind us. From the very beginning they all really backed us and wanted us to be successful because they needed us here in town,” said Butler, the Sales Manager.

Sliman and Butler Irrigation’s goal is to help farmers and growers increase productivity and crop yield with their irrigation systems and having been in business over 40 years, it seems that they have fulfilled that goal up to this point.
