Behind the Business: Fox Floral and Gifts

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) —Love is in the air with Valentine’s Day almost here...but have you gotten your special someone a gift yet?

“Flowers are there with you at every single step of the way,” Rachel Irwin, owner of Fox Floral and Gifts said.

“So this year is our 75th year here in Twin Falls. As the Twin Falls Flower company. Then the Foxes bought it and ever since then it’s been Fox Floral,” Rachel explained the Twin Falls business has been in town for decades.

Rachel didn’t always plan to go into the flower business, but says that the flowers chose her, First day on the job, they said. We need you to take over this floral department, you’ve got management experience and so I was like, oh. I just went for it full force."

In 2018, Rachel bought the business on Main Avenue and decided to keep the Fox Floral name rather than change it, “The name is a staple here in this town, and it’s a bit of history as far as Twin Falls is concerned. I would never change the name.”

When it comes to the flowers they sell, it’s not just for Valentine’s Day... They arrange for all occasions like birthdays, weddings...and just because.

“There’s just so much sentiment behind flowers,” Rachel stated.

One of Rachel’s favorite things about the job is getting to create something that brings joy, “Being able to work with people, knowing that what we do makes people happy, you know, is really the ultimate goal.”

This Valentine’s day week Fox Floral and Gifts is expanding, bringing some love to Buhl after the flower ship there closed, “We’re going to be taking flowers down to the beach tanning in Buhl tomorrow so that people can pick up flowers in Buhl.”
