CSI basketball teams end regular season with victories

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — The College of Southern Idaho men’s and women’s basketball teams closed out their regular seasons in Utah on Saturday.

The women’s team needed to win to secure first place in the Scenic West Athletic Conference tournament and they did just that in a 70-54 win over Utah State University-Eastern.

Ashley Garner led the way with a 14 point 13 rebound double-double and Kennedy Gillette scored 13 points in her final NJCAA regular season game.

CSI finishes 23-7 overall and will host the Region 18 tournament March 13 and 14 and their opponent will be determined after a game between Snow College and Salt Lake Community College on March 5.

On the men’s side, the Golden Eagles won a shootout 112-92 over USU-E.

Amarco Doyle once again led the way for CSI with 22 points, Khayri Dunn added 21 and Tanner Hayhurst poured home 19.

Additionally big man Isaac Hawkins put up a 16 point 11 rebound double-double.

The Golden Eagles will head into the Region 18 tournament with a 21-9 overall record and as the second seed. CSI will take on the third-seeded North Idaho College Cardinals on Friday night in Ephraim, Utah on the campus of Snow College.
