Open Primaries Initiative to appear in November ballot

BOISE, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Expect to see the Idahoans for Open Primaries initiative on the November ballot.
The Idaho Secretary of State’s Office made the announcement Wednesday.
The office issued a letter of acceptance, certifying the initiative has met the required threshold of 62,895 valid petition signatures.
The number carries meaning, as it equals 6% of the total registered voters from the last general election.
Also, these signatures met the statutory requirements for distribution across at least 18 legislative districts, with a minimum of 6% of registered voters from each district.
Arguments for and against this initiative can be submitted to the office no later than 11:59 p.m. MT on July 20th.
