Salute To Idaho Agriculture: Pumpkins
Pumpkin season is here

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — “It’s kind of fun to watch that process every year as families come back over and over”
Tubbs Berry Farm just opened their doors for those fall-time activities.
However, co-owner Kirk Tubbs says not long ago a late season storm looked to cause some trouble. “A month and a half ago, we had a hailstorm come through, pretty severe. Took of all the leaves in the pumpkin field and dinged up a lot of pumpkins, but here’s the miracle is that they healed up and so you can see the dents and scars on some of these pumpkins, leaves grow all back and we still have some nice pumpkins. Even in spite of it.”
With the pumpkins bouncing back, they’re now ready to be picked, carved and end up on your front porch. Pumpkins are a fast-growing crop; seeds are planted in late spring after the last frost and are ready for harvest come October. Each one is unique, and Tubbs berry farm has up to 30 varieties of pumpkins.
“You’ll find everything from a blue pumpkin to a red one to your traditional orange ones out here. Some are better for eating some are better for carving but we try to grow a fun mix throughout the field so it’s an adventure, you get to be like a kid exploring through here and you might find a different pumpkin around each corner. ”
Even though it’s a business, these fall activities mean a lot more to Tubbs than just picking out the right pumpkin. “We are a working farm and we want people to come out here and experience playing out here on the farm and spending that time together, making some memories”
Tubbs Berry Farm is open Fridays and Saturdays right now.
They’ll also be open weekdays starting October 14 through Halloween.
