Behind the Business: The Turf Club
TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — The Turf Club is open again!
This week’s Behind the Business brings us to the newly imagined Turf Club.
Since 1946, The Turf Club has been a staple of the Twin Falls community.
“The fun story behind The Turf Club that I love and what we are bringing it back to was, it used to be in the middle of nowhere, in the corn field I mean you can see the photo, it’s in the middle of nowhere, they used to run horses at Frontier Field which is where CSI is now, and the ranchers and farmers would come back to The Turf Club to do their illegal gambling and drinking, I mean it was basically a speakeasy back in the day,” said Mariann Griffith, the owner.
The Turf Club then became a fine dining restaurant in the 50′s.
Later it was more of an event center.
But when Mariann and Robert Griffith bought the business about two years ago, they knew they wanted to return to its roots as a fine dining establishment.
After fully gutting and remodeling The Turf Club, they opened to the public again a few months ago.
“We opened it up, we wanted it to be open but also intimate, so in the dining room space, we have the booths that were traditional of The Turf Club but we have divided spaces so it’s more intimate, then we have the lounge side, so you can choose which side you want to sit in dining room or lounge,” said Griffith.
They focus on high quality steaks and have a dry ager which is the first of it’s kind for the area.
“One of the things I love the most about what we are doing is the seasonal menu change, so we are working with a lot of local farmers and vendors to get local produce and meats so we are just getting ready to change to our summer menu already so that’ll be really fun to get a taste of what’s new and local,” said Griffith.
The Turf Club is now open Tuesday’s through Saturday’s opening at 4 p.m. at 734 Falls Ave in Twin Falls.
While The Turf Club is no longer an event center, it provides a delicious menu and an opportunity to enjoy time with your friends and family in a new way.
“I think that what we’ve tried to do is keep the history and the legacy of this building alive, and hopefully people will recognize that,” said Robert Griffith, the owner.
