TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — An EEG can help diagnose a variety of brain conditions, and now Saint Luke’s Magic Valley has expanded their team to include long-term monitoring. That’s the focus of this week’s Fit-and-Well Idaho report. An EEG is a test that measures the electrical activity in the brain and can find any changes.

The test is painless, and is just a device used just record brain waves. Saint Luke’s manager of the EEG department says that this procedure is vital to detect certain brain disorders “Seizures are the big ones patients with epilepsy they receive their diagnosis both with the EEG along with the clinical component from the physician but EEG’s are essential for our patients with epilepsy”. Seizures aren’t the only thing that an EEG can detect. they also help diagnose or treat sleep conditions. For coma patients, they can help determine what is contributing to the coma.
